Plant description:
Fast growing and reasonably hardy, this small shrub has pendulous, scarlet, trumpet-shaped flowers that hang from tall stems. If damaged by frost, it recovers quickly. Must be well watered and does best in summer-rainfall regions. P. aequalis, which bears tall spikes with yellow tubular flowers in summer, is a good waterside plant.
