Plant description:
One of the variegated, deciduous, perennial varieties of plantain lily. It has pale green, ovate leaves with a narrow, yellow-white stripe in the middle, and bears a tall flowering stalk of funnel shaped, light blue flowers, in midsummer. Grows in clumps, in shaded, well-composted areas. H. plantaginea (200–750mm), which comes in several forms, is valued more for its attractive foliage, ranging from plain green to variegated, than for its lily-like flowers.
