Interesting info

Carissa macrocarpa is extensively planted alongside roads and parking lots throughout South Africa. The well known fact that most plants containing milky latex sap are inedible does not apply to this plant as its fruit are indeed edible and somewhat tasty.

Propagation

Propagate from tip cuttings, taken during the growing season and treated with a soft-wood rooting hormone.

Possible problems

The thorny habit of this plant makes it unpopular for near pathways and seating areas.
