An upright-growing shrub from the protea family, the common pagoda has showy, bright red-andyellow flower heads with prominent silky stamens on the tips of its branches. Its main flowering season is from midwinter to early summer, but flowers may appear throughout the year. An excellent shrub for cut flowers. M. Chrysanthus (golden pagoda) grows up to 2m tall and bears fragrant yellow flowerheads.
