Five Flowering Felicias

Felicia amelloides

This striking little shrublet is an excellent specimen for many a design use. from coastal and rock gardens to containers edging and boarders. Ameloides’s sky blue daisy like flowers with contrasting bright yellow centres, stand proudly over its finely haired rich light green foliage.

It is low and moderately fast growing and easily propagated from cuttings or seed. Considering its frost, wind and relative drought tolerance along with its extremely long flowering period and variety of landscape uses, this little indigenous perennial is definatly a winner among the ornamentals.

Felicia amoena 'Variegata'

This shrubby perennial is indigenous to South Africa and quite similar to F.amelloides with the exception of its multi coloured foliage. The foliage is aromatic, ovally shaped and variegated green with splashes of cream. The same prominent daisy like sky blue yellow cantered flowers are formed through most of the year. It requires moderate watering and full sun, but does well in containers, boarders, in mass and so on.

 Felicia bergiana

Commonly known as the dwarf Felicia, this little compact, low growing shrub is evergreen and flowers yellow centred daisy like solitary blooms, almost all year. It is frost hardy, requires moderate watering and grows to 600mm in height. The foliage is dark green and finer than that of F. Amelloides. A superb little plant

The oval leaves are shiny, evergreen and stiff whilst the yellow centred flowers are formed in abundance from Autumn to spring on the top of upright multibranching stems. Light brown fluffy seed heads follow the flowers. A brilliant specimen for rock gardens.

Felicia erigeroides

The foliage is aromatic, ovally shaped and variegated green with splashes of cream. The same prominent daisy like sky blue yellow cantered flowers are formed through most of the year. It requires moderate watering and full sun, but does well in containers, boarders, in mass and so on.
