Botanical Name: Bauhinia tomentosa

Small tree or large shrub. B. tomentosa is mostly evergreen but can be deciduous. The plant is very attractive to insects such as bees and butterflies. Butterfly larvae will feast on the leaves while certain moth species will eat the flowers.

B. tomentosa is found from the coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal to Zimbabwe and Mozambique all the way to the tropics of Africa and can also be found in India and Sri Lanka.
